Basic Installation Question
« on: November 15, 2016, 07:13:00 AM »
Ok so before I read the full setup wikis, and guides and things like that, I'm just looking for a quick answer, or maybe a few. (Last time I read the wiki, it seemed very confusing, perhaps not written by a native English speaker)

So Basically, If im wanting to run the War3Source mod on my CS:GO server, say with the 6 basic races or something, Can I just essentially put some folders into my paid server hosts directory, that have been "Bundled together" so to say, and then work up from there making races using guides etc.?

Is that how it works?

Apologies, I know it's very basic, just looking for a quick answer as I'm interested in learning how to do a server myself, but unsure of what level of work is needed just to get it off the ground.

Many thanks,

Ice

* Find install Metamod first,
* Find install Sourcemod next,
* Install War3Source,
* Figure out the configuration files from the wiki and configure it for your tastes,
* Figure how to solve the "music" glitches with sounds in War3Source.  That I've done forgot how it was said to do so that the War3Source sound effects isn't in the music in CSGO.  Don't ask me how to solve this issue, as I don't know.
* Figure out any other glitches with War3Source and CSGO, cause there are a few.  Just don't remember which.

-----------------------------------------------> On another note:

If your willing to become a Patreon for me, then I may work on my CSGO project for War3Source: Evolution.

My CSGO version should be working fine.  I know 2 races that work fine.  Just need to test the other races and special effects of the other races.

My version of War3Source for which I am still updating:
https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=2431473

Here is my Jenkins for War3Source: Evolution (CSGO):
http://107.161.29.8:8080/job/War3Source%20Evolution%20-%20CSGO/

https://www.patreon.com/war3evo

It now has races added (untested on CSGO), but I can start working back on that project to get it ready for CSGO.

You will still need to install Metamod: https://www.sourcemm.net/

And Sourcemod: https://www.sourcemod.net/downloads.php?branch=stable

NOTE:  CSGO Sounds may not be working for my version of CSGO as I dropped working on it as nobody gave me any incentive to continue to work on a project that my servers have no use for.

Thanks for the reply!

So with the steps you mention,

Metamod and sourcemod are just available as downloads I don't have to personalize them if i understand correctly?

And then the "music glitches", and other glitches exist in all versions? There isn't a "complete pack" so to say, that is available with the known glitches fixed?

Not looking for crazy new races with special sound effects/models etc. Just trying to get around the basic implementation of the mod with some basic races if that helps :)

Thanks again, been very helpful so far!
