In truth, nobody ever bothered me to get a CSS version working... Plus it once worked for CSS in the past, so I was guessing a good programmer could make it work again on thier own time or grab a copy from here.

CSGO is now starting to look a lot better!

* All the annoying screens (Radar, dollar signs, etc) are now removed in CSGO while using the menu systems.
* Sounds fully tested and work!

Still need help testing and making sure all the races work.  I have tested a few, and still working on them.  Once they are stable, I'll add more.

The real learning is when you SSH to a server, and use Linux manually to completely install the server yourself.

I'm not sure if gameservers allows it, but in the past they only allowed FTP connections.  This suggests you do not have full control over your server and your totally relying on them if anything goes wrong.

If you want the full pleasure of setting up a server via Linux.  You will need SSH access and be able to create users, change the IP Tables, have full Root access, be able to install any Linux addon, create .sh scripts, be able to chmod all files, upgrade Linux, change how Linux boots,  Login into SSH as any user you create, login sftp, add MYSQL (requires a server with enough RAM if you want MYSQL), apt-get install screen so that your server can run in the background, so many things.

The only thing your learning with Gameservers is the files you need to have to install a game server and which files in that install to change.  In no way can you really say you can manage a game server as Gameservers.com does all the managing for you.

Request SSH Root access, and if they give it to you.. Then wow Gameservers has changed.

I could help you install a game server, and it would cost you so much less than Gameservers.

Unlike gameservers, you are paying for a real server that you have complete access to.  You can have the maximum of any game much as the RAM you rent from the services.  For what I recommend will get either a 32 player TF2 server or a CSGO server with whatever the max players it can support..  CSS will run great on the 512mb version too.

I recommend the 512mb [Premium] OpenVZ SSD for the TF2 server and the 1024mb [Premium] OpenVZ SSD for the CSGO server.

Just know, doing it this way means you handle all the installation process and everything about the server...but it is well worth your time to learn as it will save you so much money.

I can help you by steam, email, what ever at no cost.  To help you save money.  I personally hate Gameservers.

Otherwise, if you don't mind paying for convenience.. Go right ahead with them.

Ramnodes are so much better than Gameservers.  If you ever plan to run more than a few servers go with OVH.  They have the best DDOS protection.  But that is big time stuff, and you will need time to learn running a real server instead of someone else doing it all for you.

So with the steps you mention,

Metamod and sourcemod are just available as downloads I don't have to personalize them if i understand correctly?


And then the "music glitches", and other glitches exist in all versions? There isn't a "complete pack" so to say, that is available with the known glitches fixed?


Not looking for crazy new races with special sound effects/models etc. Just trying to get around the basic implementation of the mod with some basic races if that helps :)

* Find install Sourcemod next,
* Install War3Source,
* Figure out the configuration files from the wiki and configure it for your tastes,
* Figure how to solve the "music" glitches with sounds in War3Source.  That I've done forgot how it was said to do so that the War3Source sound effects isn't in the music in CSGO.  Don't ask me how to solve this issue, as I don't know.
* Figure out any other glitches with War3Source and CSGO, cause there are a few.  Just don't remember which.

New update for TF2 only:

Are your races, shop items, etc going haywire?  How about putting a speed limit up so nothing in warcraft can go beyond that limit?

ABILITY TO SET MAXSPEED LIMITS FOR WAR3SOURCE:EVO
Added a War3Source:EVO overall speed limit against itself so that any speed bonuses from itself will not go beyond the multiplier that you set.

The math for the multiplier checking is Class Base Speed * Max Speed Limit = Max Speed

* Any values added to the speed of War3Source:EVO from buffs, shop items, and races will be limited to Max Speed.
* if TF2 adds bonuses that go beyond the Max Speed limit, it will allow it and will also disable bonuses from War3Source:EVO.
* It only limits War3Source:EVO's bonuses and not TF2.
* It will allow the combination of TF2 bonuses and War3Source:EVO bonuses up to the Max Speed Limit

Convars
war3_maxspeed_limit 1.4 - 0.0 to disable speed limit. Must be a float.

war3_maxspeed_debug 0 - 1 to enable, 0 to disable. Shows speed updates to everyone's console when it updates their speed / changes.

We still could put the talent calculator up, but found that only half the players could use it.  Half of those could understand it. We felt it better just to remove it.

You'll probably have a hard time finding someone to create you something.

I'm currently working on War3Source:EVO, but I'm pretty much out of ideas for races.

If you can gather together ideas for different races that you know would work in CSGO, then please do put together skills and race name and stuff, and I'll see what I can do at no cost.

I'm working on the be skill stuff without races bound to them and just thought how a race could create itself to have tons of levels and skills that switch at different levels or better yet, gain new skills and keep the old... Unlimited number of skills one race could have if they took advantage of the new stuff I'm adding.

I have implemented part of the SkillCraft engine into War3Source so that races will be able to create skills that are not attached to the race and be able to swap skills at anytime.

Help me create new races based on this technology!

NightElf in SkillCraft is different than Warcraft, but will help give you a basic layout for using War3Source's new abilities.  Anyone good a programming SourceMod should be able to help construct these new races!

With War3Source you'll only need to #include <war3source> and nothing else.  The above link for War3Source_Engine_SkillsClass.inc is for reference only.


Note the major difference between Race creation skills and Skill creation is this: War3_CreateNewSkill vs War3_AddRaceSkill.  For race creation you'll still need to use War3_CreateNewRace, but for skill creation without binding to the race use War3_CreateNewSkill.

For my concept to work, when a player changes race (OnRaceChanged), then you set the player's skills based on that race's skill level or whatever you decide.  Use War3_SetSkillSlot(int client, int skillslot, int newskillid), and SkillSlot being the Skill # you wish to assign the skill.  When a player leaves that race for another, then you make sure you reset that skillslot back to 0.


Well, it should work... but atm I still need to build the Menu system to handle the new information as it changes. :/

I'm working to add my SkillCraft Ideas into WarCraft.  This will allow Races to swap, share, and exchange skills at anytime they choose.

This is something that will differentiate itself from the original War3Source as currently the only thing you can do is use "generic skills" which still binds itself to a race and then can not be swapped at anytime.

So.. Soon as I have this working, I can then create a slew of skills and create some brand new races that has never been seen before on War3Source!

Races where the skills change based on level, or can randomly swap every round, or skills that "evolve".. etc.

Races can actually "take on" all the other race skills temporarily!

The player will still level that race skill slot, but the skills will be flexible.


The old races will still be supported, but the ability to make these new races will be new!

If you know how to compile stuff then download latest version from here: http://107.161.29.8:8080/job/War3Source%20Evolution%20-%20CSGO/ which includes the file that you will need to compile with called "War3Source_Addon_2ndGenerationRacesBackwardsCompatible_OPT.sp".   You'll need to compile that file, then compile all the races in that same directory that you compile that file in.

If that is too hard for you, then either gain the help of the SourceMod people to tell you how to compile stuff or you will have to wait until I can compile and test the other races I have against sourcemod 1.8.

What did you do to fix your issue?

If you got my version running, with some headache and work you should be able to get War3Source's version running.

I'm still beta testing a compatibility addon that will allow you to run old War3Source races on my version.  When my Compatbility addon runs really well, you'll be able to run a bunch more races.

My version of War3Source has 40+ races, but I have to convert most of them for SourceMod 1.8 and haven't had much time.  So, currently there is only 3 races at this time.

I'm curious, Do you need think you might need translation files for a area outside of the US?

I don't think I have any translation files for Germany.  You may have to create some translation files for your country.  The only translation files that War3Source has is Russian and English.

I'm not sure if this would affect your server any...  but we don't have any sub folder with German translation files "de" sub folder.

Maybe try to comment out all the other languages other than English in your csgo/addons/sourcemod/configs/languages.cfg file and restart your server!


According to SourceMod: Languages: Preset languages defined in configs\languages.cfg. If a language is not in this file, it cannot be translated until it is added and the in-memory translation cache rebuilt.

We don't have German Translations.   So, I'm not sure if SourceMod will default to english or just not run if a server was to try and run a addon that doesn't have translations and is calling for it?


"en" is for English


Sorry I can't be anymore help.. You'll eventually figure it out if you keep trying at it.   I've gotta leave for stuff I need to do tonight, I'll be back in about 3 hours or so.

As far as War3Source.com's version of War3Source, you'll have to see a DEV here.  I am not updating that or anything.  I try to help as best I can, but I'm unable to as I'm not running it.   Maybe someone else can help you if you plan to run it.

The old War3Source has caused many people issues when installing as they are required to mess with databases.cfg and stuff.

My version should run out of the box if you include EVERYTHING from my zip and your running SourceMod version 1.8.  My version requires no configuration other than installing everything you find in the zip to your directory.  I created a server from scratch and installed only from my zip file and it runs fine.


If you choose to install War3Source.com's version, then I'll stop talking and let Revan, Necavi, or Ownz answer your questions.


For War3Source.com's version, I'm pretty sure you need to edit your sourcemod/configs/databases.cfg for it, and edit your cfg/war3source.cfg file, and READ and READ and READ this http://www.ownageclan.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Still Running on Linux,
put the extracted wc3 mod files with WinSCP into the csgo folder ...

If your server isn't running it's because your missing those optional files.

Translation files are not optional and may not create any errors when you run without them, which could make you believe that War3Source isn't running.   Translation files are a requirement to run!

There are no "optional" files.

Everything in the zip must be included on your server to work / run.

My version of War3Source requires every file and directory it supplies (except the scripting folder), so I am pretty darn sure War3Source.com has no "optional" files.




Check your directory of CSGO against mine.. my previous post I uploaded a copy of what is in my whole directory of CSGO.

War3Source:Evo only runs on SourceMod 1.8+ ... War3Source.com's version runs on 1.7, although I haven't checked if the SMX versions run on 1.7.

If your running War3Source.com's version of War3Source, you need to stay with Sourcemod version 1.7 found here: https://www.sourcemod.net/downloads.php?branch=1.7-dev

I don't see a reason why War3Source shouldn't work on SM 1.8 - care to explain?



Revan, with War3Source.com's version...the last time I checked it would not compile on 1.8.  I have already posted my reasons on this forum a while back but nobody answered them.   The amount of things I had to do to upgrade to 1.8 for compiling War3Source:EVO told me that War3Source.com would probably have similar issues.



noaim90, what files of War3Source do you have and in what directory do you have them in on your server?

noaim90, in your server type in CHAT "war3version" without the quotes and see if it replies with anything?

I put the War3Source plugins in this directory: csgo/addons/sourcemod/plugins

Also make sure you include the gamedata: csgo/addons/sourcemod/gamedata/war3source.games
make sure you also install the cfg files: csgo/cfg

Have you tried to look thru the installation wiki? http://ownageclan.com/wiki/index.php/War3Source:Installation

Can you go to your logs folder (csgo/addons/sourcemod/logs) and post your error logs?  It will look almost like this: errors_20160703.log

The errors log files means this:  error_YearMonthDay.log

If you have done everything right, the error logs will help explain to us what is wrong.



noaim90, as of right now War3Source.com has more races... so you maybe better off trying to get that version running first.  My version is still in alpha/beta testing.


noaim90, if you figure it out, please do tell us how you fixed your issue so that it may help others!
